Booger's Bono Pride |

I’ve lived in North East Arkansas my entire life, and as a child grew up in Bono. In this past Sunday Jonesboro Sun there was a large article on the town of Bono. It covered the history of the city and how the city has progressed over time.
I for one do know that the town has few but many things to offer. For example, it has two gas stations which is rather odd for a small town but being on an interstate that is on it’s way north to the lake that makes for easy access to many boaters. It also has a grocery store, a city bank, at one time it had a doctors office, and not to mention the great city park.
You must think beyond all of that though and think of the farmers that are in the area such as the Inboden Brothers and the business that they run. Now long before they sat their grain bins where they sit in Bono now, a small family called the Crafts harvest maple syrup there. That family indeed is still in business and still harvesting syrup in Bono as well.
The Crafts run the business with a family of only 4 and must do rather well with what they do, because my grandmother who come up from Little Rock brought with her this bottle and my mother showed it to me before she opened it the other morning, and showed me where it said Bono, Arkansas 72416.
After speaking with her and my brother about this bottle and doing some internet research I’ve learned that there is much more to the NEA area than I knew already. Never in my day did I ever think that there was a syrup company here, let alone in my old town of Bono.
So next time you’re out shopping for groceries, stop and look of the shelf and see for yourself. Grab yourself a bottle, this stuff is actually pretty good!

You know me so I didnt see a need for posting my last name. Anyway, I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you but the Crafts don't run that business anymore. They may own it but David and Teresa Best run it. My first "job" was helping out for 2 weeks the summer of my junior year at the syrup factory. I put the seals on top of every bottle that came through the line. Just thought you should know : ) |
