Booger's Blog 4/10/09 - The Booger Bike

As I pulled into my drive on Thursday afternoon my brother was parked in front of the house and the very first thing I noticed as I was sitting in my truck watching him work on a lawn mower in our garage was a bicycle in the back of his truck. I was excited just knowing the fact that he may have gotten us a bicycle. As I got out of my truck he made his way down to my truck and proceeded to tell me that yes he had gotten us a bike and how he got it. Now my brother isn't the smartest person sometimes, although in this situation I have to give him credit for trying. Because what he had done was gone out while he was on the job site and found this bike and a lawn mower in a dumpster. After finding what he had found he did what any redneck would do and that's get the idea to go dumpster diving as some might say.

So after getting his "treasures" he brought them to the house to work on them. On the show I proclaim to be "Little Dan" after my father Dan. My father could fix just about anything! Cars, he remodeled the inside of our home, I think if you name it my father can do it...and that's not being conceited I hope. My brother though can success carry that name, because he did inherit that trait from my father. I mean after spending a few hours on this lawn mower and taking one motor from one mower to another and this that he finally has us yet another lawn mower at our home. Then after the mower he tackled the bike. He sat there and put the chain on it, I helped him mess with the handle bars, and he fixed the seat.

That was when the fun began. At that point we had us our very own bicycle! So be it that the nice brother that I am, I let him be the first one to ride it. In all honesty, I just know he's more fit to ride it plus I figured that if it was going to break...I didn't want to be on it if it broke. After spending a few minutes riding around the Big Lots parking lot and up and down the street it was then my turn to ride! I think the good Lord was watching over me as well, because I know more started to get on it and a Jonesboro Police Officer pulled up into the Big Lots parking lot. I think that officer was watching us already and knew that if I was going to ride there was probably the chance for an accident to happen. I mean if you know the story about me and the motorcycle then you know that me and the Big Lots parking lot don't get along very well. There's just something about me and two wheeled vehicles that don't go together. I can say this though, I am very out of shape! He was able to ride that bike a lot better than I was and for much longer. We both ended up giving up at the same time though because the bike killed our legs. The kicker of the whole story though was as he was pushing the bike up to the garage, all the sudden the back tire stopped. Something caused it to go sideways almost and lean up against the side of the bike. We noticed as we rode it that at moments it rode good and then it didn't. We just figured it was because it was a 10 speed and had something to do with the gears...maybe not though! So our fun was put to a hault all the sudden! Now we have to fix it once again!
